SPEAK
up for ubin
Give praise: Often Singaporeans will not be moved to write
except to complain. If they enjoyed a visit or like a place just as
it is, they do not make any noise. The result is that decisions on
our wild places are often more affected by complaints than praise.
So if you like something, say something!
Do the focus ubin survey to share
your thoughts about Ubin.
Give feedback: The decision makers seek feedback.
Here is more
about the latest call for feedback from the post-65 generation
Singaporeans.
Give your sincere and well-thought out feedback and it will be valued
and acted upon. A good place to start is the Government Consultation
Portal Feedback
Unit, click on General Feedback under Feedback Channels or email
them at feedback_unit@mcys.gov.sg
They can also direct you to the correct people to give your feedback
to. Snail mail: The Feedback Unit, MCYS Building, #14-00 512 Thomson

ACT
for ubin
Contribute your time: even if you know nothing (actually most
people know more than they think), just join in events that need an
extra pair of hands for a few hours. This can make a great difference.
Contribute your skills: action for Ubin needs all the skills
that any major endeavour requires. Primarily:
Management and leadership: to organise and manage groups.
Working with volunteers is a different experience from work life and
brings valuable lessons and insights to your worklife. At the same
time, the volunteer groups will also benefit from your worklife experience.
Training: essential to get up to speed and keep up to
date. Good trainers are hard to come by and can make a huge difference
in motivating and equipping volunteers with the right skills.
Technical skills: volunteer groups always need
photographers, writers, IT help.
In fact, almost any skill you have can be useful.
Contribute your money: volunteer groups always need funds.
Although the critical success factor is a committed team, often a
few dollars here and there can make the difference in the success
of a volunteer programme.
