ubin's heritage trees
Does Ubin have spectacular Heritage Trees like those found on the mainland? Surely there must be many magnificent giants on this unspoilt island? Where are they? What are the stories behind them? Mr KP Tan shares these photos and stories of magnificent mangrove trees on Pulau Ubin on the focus ubin forum "There are three very old mangrove trees In the mud-flat on Ubin Island directly opposite "Frog Island". By the girth of the trees, I guess the trees must be about 150 years old making then one of the oldest trees in S’pore and the oldest mangrove tree in S’pore if not in Ubin. The clump of three trees are can be accessed by a small track within visual sight from the nearest shelter hut just bfore the slope down to CJ. Hope will be able to take more shots of these trees and other trees and Post them in Ubin Focus as an effort to protect and preserve them."
