What
I find unique about Pulau Ubin: |
My
hopes for Pulau Ubin: |
| 1 |
We
just need to have more natural reserves for every busy Singapore
citizens/pr as a place to relax our mind and appreciate nature that
God has created for us! Foreign vistors that are here can only comment
we have man made scenery and no natural scene. Our mainland is congested
with people and high rise buildings. One evening, I was standing
on the Padang ground and looking around me were all men made scenes
of high concrete buildings with 'spotted' windows lighting up -
interpreted to office workers staying late for work to be completed.
We are living a stressful life so we just need to go back to nature
and relax. People are turning their home to holiday resorts layouts
and going on to do yoga, taichi and many other activities to relax
their minds. What more can we say ........ but we need more natural
reserves to 'cool' our minds and catch some 'undisturb' air after
a stressful period of work! |
As
above. Do not put in any more advance technology or buildings on
this island as we need to on our mainland. Let this Ubin still grow
naturally. |

| 3 |
the
various plants there, the history and culture of he villagers, everything. |
it
will be conserved and hopefully be kept as cleaned as possible with
minimal pollution, and attract more bird species. |
| 4 |
The
kampong atmosphere is a welcome change to hustle and bustle of city
life. My foreign exchange students are always happy to visit Pulau
Ubin. |
That
it remains as it is. Perhaps to improve the viability, include bed
and breakfast from some kampong folks to visitors especially foreigners.
Have better quality water and some street lights. |

The
beautiful nature and the village people which are still staying
there. |
I
wish that everyone would help to make Ubin a nature reserve that
can be visited by the world. |
| 8 |
Becuz
it's part of singapore. but we have to take ferry to reach ubin! |
it'll
be able to educate our future kids what is kampong life, how friendly
& close the villages are. Being a city kids they do not know
what is simple life! |
| 9 |
She
has the peaceful and simple atmosphere that you can't feel in the
Singapore mainland. |
Please
let it remains untouch. We don't have to build an artificial Island.
We already have a real and natural island as our heritage. |
| 10 |
It
is not only an island with flora and fauna. It is an island sprinkled
with character and speaks of the root of Singapore. When we talk
about the root of Singapore many think about Sir Stamford Raffles,
and Sang Nila Utama, but to me we all started as a forested fishing
village and Ubin is the last we can see. That is a reminiscence
of our root. |
Keep
things as it is. I don't wish to see more damages. It is bad enough
that Bin Kiang School was torn down because some decision makers
up there did not think about using it as a landmark for youngsters
these days who do not appreciate the good schools they were sent
to. Now they totally have no chance to compare the old and new.
What a real shame. |

it's
'raw', natural state of the flora, fauna, animal life and living
seas. The 'old houses' and kampong lifestyle'. |
that
the sticky hands of the government will stay away from it. Let it
be run by a foundation of pte and creative NOT PROFIT making citizens
& organisations that value Ubin as a heritage and legacy, and
that have the true conservation of the island at heart. |
| 13 |
Rustic,
casual, minimal concrete, lots of green, happy place, so un-Spore,
a sanctuary, child-like, not-so-structured, care-free, rugged, alive
! |
Pray
you will not be a Sentosa. Retain, conserve and maintain your uniqueness
of being an island where we see less concrete and more green, more
nature. An experience of natural nature and not man-made modern
day 'nature'& 'fun'.
Love the bumboat rides to Ubin - don't remove that. |
| 14 |
Nature
at your doorstep. A good place to relax for a small cost. Wonderful
fauna and flora to see and discover. |
That
it remains as it is. Keep the natural heritage on for our future
generations. |
| 15 |
It's
nature |
Stay
unspoilt |
| 16 |
No
HDB flats! (yet???) |
Singapore's
truly nature habitats. |
| 17 |
nothing
really |
development
as a tourist centre |
| 18 |
It
is a place where we can still be in nature in singapore. |
The
same as my hope for Singapore to not wipe out our collective memories
too soon and losing our humanity altogether. |

| 20 |
Chek
Jawa, Fishing, the unspoilt wonders. |
Leave
it in an unspoilt state. If that is not possible, then retain as
much of its unspoilt beauty, fauna and flora |
| 21 |
Its
a nice haven from city life |
For
the artificial structures (poles) built off the seashore at chek
jawa to be removed. Its an eyesore. |
| 22 |
Everything.
There are only one Ubin. |
Nothing,
just let the island be itself. |
| 23 |
the
tranquility, beauty and natural aura of it that's almost gone on
mainland ... the friendliness of the ubin villagers like everyone's
everyone's brother or sisters... |
that
it will continue to remain in its natural state.just let concrete
and high rise buildings stay on mainland. |
| 24 |
Kampong
life of the local villagers, minimum pollution of the environment,
Chek Jawa, rarer species of wildlife seldom seen in urban Singapore |
I
hope the government will not allow any golf courses, condominums
etc to be built on the serene island.
I hope that Chek Jawa will be preserved forever.
I hope that government officials will act on their conscience and
not on selfish personal gains when dealing with matters concerning
nature and conservation. |
