What
I find unique about Pulau Ubin: |
My
hopes for Pulau Ubin: |

|
that
|

|
that
|
| 3 |
What
I find unique about Pulau Ubin is that it does not have tons of shopping
centres crammed with huge numbers of Singaporeans and non Singaporeans.
I absolutely hate being stuffed with crowds! |

Leave
Pulau Ubin the way it is.. no modern developments please like shopping
centres and cinemas.. we need Ubin to be left untouched for our peace
of mind |
| 5 |
Compared
to the rest of built up Singapore, Ubin is an unspoilt paradise where
one can go for peace and quiet. |
That
it stays the way it is now, or is preserved for eco tourism |
| 6 |
Ubin
is the place where we can relax there |
no
reclamation! |

| 8 |
relaxed
pace of life, kampung like atmosphere, ability to explore (this has
changed drastically) |
We
will not try to improve it as we rehabilitate it; we have spoilt it
enough |
| 9 |
The
Ubinites; their lives; their livelihood and economy; their history;
Ubin's very special ambience; plus the richness in the variety of
precious ecosystems which are still on and around the island. |
That
these unique features will be AUTHENTICALLY enhanced - and be not
diminished nor corrupted with destructions, desecrations, introductions
or developments which are alien to original Ubin. Authentic true Ubin
whole and intact will be of immensely greater worth to Singapore's
near-term and long-term security, dynamism, progress, competitiveness
and prosperity than Ubin "developed and commercialised into a no-more
Ubin". |

A
place in Singapore where you still be able to find Nature just at
your doorstep. |
Remain
as it is. |

Its
rustic charm. It reminds me of the kind of people we used to have
for neighbours during my childhood days. A reminder of what life was
and can be - simple. U don't have to go to Nepal or Tibet or Thailand
to seek a peaceful sanctuary -- Ubin has it all (of course not during
the weekends!) |
Just
leave it as it is. Of course this may be wishful thinking as Singapore
does not have a track record of leaving things as they are! |
| 13 |
It's
kpg environment and abundant nature areas. Also the people and laid
back ways |
I
hope it will stay as it is now. Or if not, at least preserve its more
important natural heritage areas. |
| 14 |
kampung
atmosphere |

| 15 |
Everything |
Conserve
it! |
| 16 |
I
guess it is nostalgia - reminds me of my younger days in the "kampong"
where there are few buildings and people tend to depend a lot on nature
and things around them for their needs. There is a surprise everyday
because suddently a new shoot has sprout or a butterfly, spider etc
decided to spring into action and add to the colour. You can smell
the grass and fresh morning dew instead of polution! How can one describe
the feeling. |
I
hope the authorities would leave Ubin as it is instead of seeking
to "improve" it. Please do not tar any more roads but perhaps dig
in some ditches alongside so that water can drain off. The problem
with bringing in too much of "civilisation" is that the change is
irreversible and before we know it, boy we've created another "modern"
Singapore ! |

The
atmosphere of the 60s |
Leave
it untouch! |
| 19 |
Chek
Jawa! ;o) And of course the kampung village there. |
That
P.Ubin (including CJ) will be preserved through conservations programs
endorsed by the government. |

The
laid-back environment. Kampong living. |
Remind
as it is for the next generation to get to undestand the old Singapore! |

Chek
Jawa, Rustic kampong extinct in main S'pore island, Green lungs of
S'pore [ hopefully car population is kept small & healthy ]. |
An
island of unspoilt nature - flora & fauna for S'pore to learn
& appreciate nature. A place to do research , eg on medicinal
cure from plants and marine creatures. |
| 26 |
the
retention of the old kampong flavour |
I
wish to see it as one where urban dwellers like us can unwind while
pacing the nature, however I do not wish to see the place to be over
developed for such a cause. |
